A Chief Minister is the elected head of the council ministers in a state as stated in the Indian Constitution. The Chief Minister oversees the day-to-day functioning of the state government. In simpler words we can say, one who controls, rules, or handles the functions of a particular state is the Chief Minister.

Qualification of Chief Minister in India?

The minimum qualifications required to become the Chief Minister in India are given below

  • He must be a citizen of India.
  • He must be above the age of 25 years.
  • He must be a member of the State Legislative Assembly (MLA). In case the person is not an MLA at the time of their appointment as Chief Minister of a State, He must become an MLA by contesting an election in their respective constituency within six months of appointment.
